Creative Community Cafe

A peaceful social space run by and for Ukrainian residents, and the wider community

Based at the Church House on Romford Market, the Creative Community Cafe is a friendly and welcoming space open to all - a place to meet, create and build a supportive community. Spearheaded by Havering Changing Area Workers Julia and Sarah, it was set up earlier this year to help Ukrainian residents integrate and feel at home in Havering - to give them chance to share their culture, be together, and be themselves.

Whilst it was set up primarily to support Ukrainian residents, it is open to the public and we encourage everyone to pay a visit to what has become a real haven amid the bustle of Romford town centre! Whether you pop in for a quick and calming cup of tea, or have a little bit longer to stay for some crafting - you can be sure to receive a very warm welcome!

As well as serving hot drinks and snacks, our amazing Ukrainian staff and volunteers lead drop-in creative activities that offer visitors a taste of a wide range of crafts - from glass and pottery painting, to weaving and making traditional ‘motanka’ dolls. Take a look at the pictures below for a taste of what they’ve done so far.

Please note: The cafe is open 3 days per week.
