Havering Changing’s Big Summer of Outdoor Arts programmed by local people living in Harold Hill, Orchard Village, Rainham and Romford.

This summer a series of exciting pop up outdoor arts moments will bring live performance to Harold Hill, Orchard Village, Rainham and Romford, with local people deciding on a wide range of entertaining events and inclusive workshops happening right on your doorstep in local spaces.

From July to September there will be big band music, circus extravaganzas, outdoor cinema screenings, tea dances, craft workshops and international cultural celebrations.

Events will be happening right on the doorstep, in well-loved community spaces, from the Mardyke Community Centre, on school playing fields and at the historic Romford marketplace.

Havering Changing has facilitated an imaginative programme in each area decided on by local Steering Groups, made up of individuals who love the places and the people who live there. The Big Summer of Outdoor Arts aims to get as many local people as possible involved with inspiring and meaningful creative activities.

James Jackson, Project Director for Havering Changing says ‘The Big Summer of Outdoor Arts is about the local communities in each area deciding what they want to see and do in their place. All the events and activities will be free to attend. We want everyone to have access to arts & culture on their doorstep, that is made for and by local people living in Havering.

19 - 21 August in Orchard Village - International Cultural Celebration Event at the Mardyke Community Centre

28 - 30 August in Rainham - Outdoor Cinema Screening

More events to be announced over the coming weeks.

Free tickets, for any of the performances mentioned above, will be available from on the Havering Changing Eventbrite and you can find all of the details about the growing programme of events at: https://www.haveringchanging.org/news/big-summer-of-outdoor-arts.

The Big Summer of Outdoor Arts is part of Havering Changing’s On Your Doorstep programme led by the Steering Groups in each area. The programme of events was brought together via a widely publicised Open Call for artists, community groups, service providers, local businesses and venues to get involved in the project.

Havering Changing is an Arts Council England, Creative People and Place programme which support local people, living and working, in Harold Hill, Orchard Village, Rainham and Romford to choose, create and take part in their own programme of inspiring arts and culture.
